The Difference Between Sports & Esports Betting

Sports betting has been around for more than 2000 years and it dates back to ancient Greece. From Greece culture, it spread to the Roman empire where it was eventually legalized. On the other side, Esports betting is a new concept that was created on the very foundations of traditional Sports betting. So, let’s compare the two and see is there any difference?

Professional Level

We can all agree that there is a huge skill gap between amateurs and professional players in every sport. Professional players are consistent and you know what to expect from them. On the other side, what is the case with Esports players? Truth to be told, a few years ago professional Esports scene wasn’t even close to what it is today. Esports evolved and players today are like real athletes. They have regular diets, go to the gym, train every day, and take their jobs seriously. After all, huge money is involved in this industry and they only do what is expected of them.

With that in mind, we can conclude that both sports and esports players are at the highest level and there is almost no difference between those two professions. If we look at that from the betting perspective, we can say that it is safe to bet on Esports just as it is on regular sports. Of course, sometimes the favourite team won’t win but that is the reason it is called gambling.

Types of Bets

Probably the biggest difference between those two is in types of bets. It is no secret that Esports and Sports betting have different betting markets. Even though sports betting is much older Esports betting exceeds all expectations and it has more betting markets. The main reason behind this lays in the core of Esports. There are just so many things that can happen during one match on which you can bet on.

Injury Probability

Another difference between those two is in injury probability. There are some sports that are considered safe but overall Esports is much safer and there is a lesser chance for any player to get injured. It does not have a direct effect on betting but accidents do happen in contact sports which makes it unpredictable. On the other side, we can always expect Esports players to finish the match without any injuries so if we lost a bet it would be because of bad analysis and not because of an accident.
